Dreams Leadership Academy is a year-long academic cohort for young men in the Eighth (8th) grade that will participate in exciting experiences that will enhance their growth and development as young men. They will meet monthly as a group. Each young man will have a mentor dedicated to spending at least an hour a week with them, checking in on their behavior, grades, and progress while building meaningful relationships with them. DLA participants will also take part in extracurricular and impactful activities, field trips, and lectures.
DLA provides our young men with more touchpoints and opportunities to interact with adult professional men who will sow into their manhood. We will focus on the critical principles of Dreams Academy that include etiquette, financial literacy, and problem-solving and additional opportunities due to the ability to spend more time with them and focus on community service, leadership, relationship building, and holistic living.
With that, to serve the participants in the Leadership Academy, all mentors are asked to:
• Have a minimum contact of once per week-whether virtual or in-person. Meet with your mentee for the duration of the program with a 30-minute minimum.
• Pass a standard background check
• Be respectful and help pour into the next generation of youth in a meaningful, purposeful way.
